Getting its French title from proprietor Lucie Matthies’ middle name and paying homage to the French immigrants who settled in the area, Chateau Fontaine was a deserted potato farm and cow pasture when Dan Matthies discovered the property in the 1970’s with its favorable south-facing slopes for growing grapes.

We've been making organic cider on our family owned farm in Flushing, Michigan since the 1850's. We use the same apples from the same orchards that owner Jim's great-great-grandfather did before the time of the Civil War. We are proud of that. It gives us a sense of history. All we can say is that our ciders are the real thing. Made from real apples. Pure, natural and uniquely flavorful. We grow, harvest, and press the apples right here on the farm in Michigan.

Left Foot Charley owns no palatial estate. Our energy is focused on fermenting, aging, and bottling wine. We searched for a unique space to create wine from the region's most significant vineyards. After 11 years, we found this space in the heart of Traverse City. The Village, formerly the Northern Michigan Asylum, is one of the most extensive historical restoration projects in America.

The Hawthorne Vineyards site is arguably the most secluded Old Mission Peninsula tasting room site.
